Action Frames

An action frame, or simply a frame, is an abstract unit of time in combat. Each combatant's turn is made up of a number of frames equal to their turn length, plus one reaction frame between the end of their turn and the start of their next.

An action during combat or an encounter takes a number of frames depending on the action, and its outcome only takes effect when those frames have passed and the action has completed without interruption. These icons describe the number of frames an action requires:

Some actions may take longer than one turn to complete. See the combat overview section for more detail.
