Advanced Skill Assignment

This section describes how to choose skills for a new character in an adventure utilizing the optional Advanced Skills rules.

Value Pools

In normal character creation, you start by assigning values to your skills as a level 0 character, then improve them by buying skill improvements with character points as you level up. With the Advanced Skills ruleset, however, skill improvements can't be bought with character points - instead they must be improved upon during the game through practice. To simulate that experience when creating a leveled character, choose your initial skills using the Value Pool Method.

Refer to the table below for the level you're starting at, and a list of numerical values. Assign these to your initial skills in any way you see fit.
