Caster Level

Your Caster Level represents your overall power level as a magic user, and is determined by your class and level.

Magical skills use your caster level as a modifier when attempting to perform magic. The higher a person's caster level is, the more likely they'll be able to learn and cast unfamiliar spells easily.

Unlocking Magical Ability

All humans have the energy to be capable of performing ancient magic, though they must first learn to visualize and interpret spells using their subconscious mind. Successfully learning this interpretation is necessary in order to perform any magic. A character who hasn't unlocked their magical ability yet has a caster level of zero, regardless of their class. Characters with a zero caster level automatically fail any spellcasting checks.
