Varying types of weapons, attacks, and environmental hazards inflict damage in different ways. Some types of damage cause further penalties.
Any damage type in this list can be resisted by a status effect.
Sources: Bludeon attacks; impact with solid objects and from long falls
Effects: Whenever a critical hit deals bludgeoning damage, the target takes up to 1d4 points of that as injury damage.
Sources: Stabbing attacks; most ranged weapons
Effects: Certain called shots can cause bleeding if they deal Piercing damage.
Sources: Slashing attacks with bladed weapons
Effects: Certain called shots can cause bleeding if they deal Slashing damage.
Sources: Strangulation; Failing to hold your breath from or staying underwater too long
Effects: Suffocation damage ignores all armor.
Sources: Damage over time from the Poisoned status effect
Effects: Poison damage ignores all armor.
Sources: Any environmental hazard involving fire, molten materials, or acidic chemicals
Effects: Taking 10 or more Burning damage in a single hit causes Burning 1.
Sources: Exposure to extreme cold; any environmental hazard involving freezing temperatures
Effects: Taking 10 or more Freezing damage in a single hit staggers you for one frame.
Sources: Lightning strikes; any environmental hazard involving electric shock
Effects: Taking 10 or more Shock damage in a single hit causes you to drop the items in your hands and become Stunned. Taking 30 or more Shock damage in a single hit causes paralysis until the creature receives first aid.
