Enchantment Targets
Enchantments can only be applied to specific types of items they're compatible with.
- Weapon Enchantments can be applied to any melee or ranged weapon.
- Melee Weapon Enchantments can be applied to melee weapons of any material or type.
- Ranged Weapon Enchantments can be applied to ranged weapons and/or their ammunition (see below.)
- Clothing Enchantments can be applied to armor or outfits.
- Accessory Enchantments can be applied to wearable items other than armor and outfits.
- Object Enchantments are applied to any object regardless of function.
- Enchantments with Specific Targets can only be applied to very specific objects. The criteria for a suitable target will be described in the enchantment's properties.
- Enchantments that Target Creatures Directly are rare. They're known as hexes, or curses when their effects are harmful.
Enchanting Ranged Weapons
When applying an enchantment to a ranged weapon, you can choose to either enchant the weapon itself or enchant the ammunition.
Enchanting the weapon allows you to keep the same enchantment for an indefinite amount of time, while enchanting ammunition gives you the freedom to swap between different
effects depending on the situation at hand. If you use enchanted ammunition in an enchanted weapon, the ammunition enchantment supersedes the weapon enchantment (their effects don't stack.)
When enchanting ammunition, you can enchant a number of items up to the package quantity of the ammunition type (This is the amount that the ammunition type is typically sold in packages of.)
Effects of Enchanted Items
- Weapon Enchantments typically affect attacks made with the enchanted weapon. Rarely they may affect the holder directly.
- Clothing and Accessory Enchantments confer their effects on a creature wearing them. If a creature is wearing multiple items enchanted with the same enchantment, only the strongest amplified enchantment applies to the creature. Exposure to excessively powerful enchantments in this form can cause spellsickness.
- Object Enchantments affect the behavior of the object and may rarely affect the holder or other nearby creatures.
- Hexes and Curses directly affect the creature they're cast on, and can also cause spellsickness.
