Extreme Cold

Summarized List: Environments

Be sure to bundle up when traveling through areas with cold and windy climates. Extreme Cold is an environmental condition that can cause reduced physical ability and even lead to death.

Effects of Extreme Cold

Each successive level of Extreme Cold includes all effects of the levels below it.

Level 1: You take a -1 penalty to Dexterity and Wisdom.

Level 2: You take a further -2 penalty to all checks, and you have disadvantage on reactions.

Level 3: You take freezing damage equal to your hit point increment minus your Constitution modifier every minute, or every round of combat. This damage ignores all armor. It's best to avoid Level 3 Extreme Cold whenever possible.

Counters

Wearing clothing with the Warm property, or gaining the Cold Resistant status effect. Each level of either effect reduces the level of extreme cold effects you experience by 1.
