Ver. 1.3.1

Long Bow

The Long Bow is a class of ranged weapon that uses the tension of a string to launch arrows with deadly force. The bow itself is typically made of wood, and the string can be made of fibrous rope, hemp, or hide.

Projectiles fired from a bow travel in an arc with a maximum distance of the bow's effective range. Bows can either be loaded and fired in a single motion, or loaded and drawn first to increase its power and range. Drawing a bow to its maximum power is a feat of great Strength.

Projectiles travel in a short arc with a maximum range equal to half the bow's effective range when using quick-fire..

Success: You hit your target if they're within range. The target takes Piercing damage equal to half the bow's base damage.
Critical Success: Critical Hit. The target takes Piercing damage equal to the bow's base damage.
Failure: You miss.
Critical Failure: You drop the arrow, or it falls out of your bow before you can fire it properly.

Load

You load a single projectile into a non-magazine-based weapon such as a shotgun or crossbow. You must have at least one unit of a compatible ammunition in your inventory.

Loose

You release a drawn weapon causing it to fire. In order to fire as a free action, your weapon must already be loaded and drawn.

Make a Shoot (Marksmanship) check against the target's passive agility. Projectiles travel in an arc with a maximum distance of the bow's effective range, or twice its effective range if drawn to full power.

Success: The target takes piercing damage equal to the bow's base damage rating, or twice the bow's base damage if drawn to full power.
Critical Success: Critical Hit. The target takes double the normal amount of damage.
Failure: You miss.
Critical Failure: The arrow fires in an unintended direction and may hit an ally.

Draw (Half Power)

You draw your weapon to half-power. The bow must be loaded and held in both of your hands.

This action doesn't fire the bow. No skill check is needed.

Holding a drawn weapon requires concentration. If your concentration is broken, you may drop the arrow or fire it unexpectedly.

Draw (Full Power)

You draw your weapon as far back as it will go. The bow must be loaded and held in both hands.

Make a Strength check. Holding a drawn weapon requires concentration. If your concentration is broken, you may drop the projectile or fire it unexpectedly.

The difficulty is 12 for the Long Bow.

Success: You draw your bow to full power.
Failure: You draw to half-power instead.
Critical Failure: The string slips out of your grip, causing the bow to fire unexpectedly in the direction you're facing at half power.
