Opportunity
Opportunity is a scenario that occurs in combat when a combatant loses focus or makes a serious mistake that leaves them open to surprises, known as Attacks of Opportunity or Opportunity Actions.
In each case, the combatant with opportunity gains additional time to act, in the form of Opportunity Frames. These extra frames are inserted between the current and upcoming frames of the combatant's turn, either as normal
action frames or as reaction frames if it's not the opportune combatant's turn.
The following rules apply to Opportunity:
- Opportunity frames are said to be against the giver of opportunity.
- Opportunity frames must be used immediately upon being gained, otherwise they are wasted.
- Actions during opportunity frames can't target a creature other than the giver of the opportunity.
- If multiple creatures receive opportunity at the same time, the order is determined by the current initiative order.
- Actions without specific targets, such as movement or hiding, are valid opportunity actions.
- Opportunity actions cannot be reacted to. While an opportunity frame is open, the opportune creature exclusively has priority.
