Ver. 1.3.1

Relationship

Characters within the game world will develop differing opinions of you as you interact with them. Each player character has a unique relationship value with each other character they have met, excluding other player characters. Your relationship with an NPC sometimes acts as a modifier in social interaction checks.

Most NPCs begin with a neutral relationship (0) when first meeting the party. NPCs also have relationships with other NPCs. This mechanic determines how likely someone is to work with you or against you. Various social interactions can change an NPC's relationship with you positively or negatively. You may use the Sense Motive (Insight) action to gauge a character's current opinion of you or someone else. An NPC's relationship with you can never be outside the bounds of +8 to -8 without the use of mind-altering effects.

0 Neutral Doesn't know you very well, and doesn't really care about your interests.
-1...-2 Unfriendly Doesn't trust you and generally wants to avoid you.
-3...-5 Enemy Strongly dislikes you and will not help you. Might attack you or work against you if it benefits them.
-6 and below Hostile Wants you dead and will attack you on sight.

Player Characters

Player characters are never influenced mechanically by relationships, and do not track numerical relationships with other player characters. For the purpose of calculating relationship-based modifiers between player characters, such as for the Actor skill feat, the relationship between player party members is equal to half of the highest overall level in the party (If your party's highest level is 10, then all party members have a relationship of +5 with each other.)

Again, this rule has no impact on player character behavior. These rules exist solely to govern NPC behavior and should never be used to influence the actions of a player character. Although a player may use relationships for roleplay purposes if they so choose, they ultimately have the final say over their character's actions regardless.
