Schools of Magic

The Torchlight Society categorizes spells into six forms of magic, and further into a total of eighteen Schools. Each school of magic describes the ways in which its spells and enchantments affect reality.

Any school of magic can be gained as a specialty skill.

Schools of Elemental Magic

Elemental magic invokes the destructive forces of nature.

• Pyromancy
• Cryomancy
• Lithomancy
• Evocation

Schools of Divine Magic

Divine magic involves the forces of life and protection.

• Restoration
• Abjuration
• Banishment

Schools of Physical Magic

Physical magic interacts with the states and chemical compositions of matter.

• Physiomancy
• Transmutation
• Conjuration

Schools of Psionic Magic

Psionic magic interacts with the human mind and its perceptions of reality.

• Illusion
• Hypnotism
• Divination

Schools of Spectral Magic

Spectral magic deals with the forces of death and the afterlife.

Schools of Temporal Magic

Temporal magic manipulates the fabric of spacetime.
