Ver. 1.3.1

Shotguns

Shotguns are a class of ranged weapon that fire a burst of scattered pellets, called shot, instead of a single bullet. This makes shotguns extraordinarily deadly at close range, but their damage decreases at longer ranges.

Shotgun Mechanics

Instead of a standard effective range, shotguns have a range increment. At a distance less than its range increment, a shotgun deals its full damage. For each multiple of the weapon's range increment beyond that point, the damage is reduced by 1. This reduction is called range falloff.

When you fire a shotgun, you make a single Shoot (Marksmanship) check. Each target within the gun's range contests with their passive agility. You then roll the damage die for each target that was hit. If the result of the damage roll for any target minus its range falloff equals zero or less, the target takes no damage and the attack is considered a miss.
