Elemental

This article is about the magical creature. For the form of magic, see Elemental Magic.

Elementals are physical manifestations of magical energy that take the form of humanoid or animaloid creatures. They are found in ancient ruins, both summoned by undead and as independent entities.

Description

Elementals can take on a wide variety of forms. There are over 20 known types of elemental, all of which are conjured through casting a spell. All elementals have ancient magic powers of their own depending on their type, which their summoner can control.

Summoned Form

When first summoned, elementals function as extensions of their summoner's subconscious. They are completely dependent on the summoner to control their movements and actions, and they exist only so long as the summoner magically maintains them.

Autonomous Form

A mage proficient in spectral magic (or in some cases metamagic) can use an elemental as a vessel for a conscious spirit or other entity, creating an elemental that is fully independent and autonomous. These elementals are no longer dependent on the summoner maintain them through a spell, and can persist for extremely long periods.
