Now that you know your ability scores and skill levels, the next step is to further customize your character by choosing feats. All feats are optional, but we strongly recommend choosing at least a career background and one flaw. Other feats can be purchased later on as your character improves.
Feats are special perks or abilities that you can purchase for your character using Character Points. Feats come in many forms:
Main page: Character Points
Character Points are the metacurrency used to purchase feats of all types. Your total is written as a fraction: Character Points Available (CPA) over Character Points Total (CPT). CPA is the amount you have available to spend on feats, while CPT is the total number of points your character has earned throughout their adventures. Starting character points and those gained through flaws count toward CPA only.
Since this is a new character, your starting CPT is 0. Your starting CPA was written down back in step 1, based on your age.
Choose up to three flaws. Add their character point values to your CPA only.
Flaws are optional, but it's recommended to have at least one flaw, as it typically makes for a more developed character.
Your career backgrounds describe what you did for a living before the start of the adventure. You should try to always have at least one career background, as they determine your starting equipment and currency amount.
Career Backgrounds can be purchased multiple times, giving you multiple instances of that background's benefits.
Keep your career backgrounds' pages open in other tabs. You'll need to refer back to them in later steps.
NOTE: Any knowledges or specialties you receive from your career background(s) do NOT count against your skill total from the last step.
You may spend however many character points you have left on any Backgrounds or feats you meet the requirements for. You don't have to spend all your points now, but keep in mind you won't be able to purchase any more backgrounds or flaws after character creation. Only general, skill, class, and racial feats can be purchased at later levels mid-game.
Write the names of the feats you purchase in the Feats section of your character sheet, and subtract their costs from your CPA.
