To create a leveled character, the first step is to build the character at level 0 (which you've now done), then go through the process of leveling up as though the character had done so during the game, until you reach the starting level set by the GM. The first time you level up, you'll most likely want to choose your class.
New Era: Sol 366 Edition offers ten classes. These describe your character's general profession as an explorer and spellcaster in the New Era. Since the classes all involve some level of magic, your GM may disallow you from choosing a class until such a time when the party gains knowledge of magic. If you level up before this time, or if you're not sure what class you want to be yet, you'll put that level into Classless.
A level 0 character is always classless. When you level up, if you don't already have a class, you can choose one. You can also choose to remain classless for a few levels until your character decides on the direction they want to take. Choose wisely, because you won't get to choose a second class until much later on!
Your Class Level is the number of levels that you have put towards your class. If you have multiple classes, each one tracks its Class Level separately.
Your Character Level, also called Overall Level, is the sum of all your Class and Classless levels - the total number of times your character has leveled up.
Whenever you take your first level in a new class, or your first Classless level, you become a natural in one or more skills. Each class has its own list of natural skill options. Skills you're a natural in can be increased over time without needing to spend character points on them.
Fill in the circled 'N' next to the skill on your character sheet to indicate your natural skills. Whenever you receive the Natural Skill Improvement class feature, each of your natural skills increases by 1 level.
