Character Creation Guide

Welcome to the Character Creation Guide! This section will walk you step-by-step through the process of creating a character to get your game started.

Role-Playing Basics

During the game, you'll be playing in-character as the person you're about to create. You'll roleplay various scenes and interactions with the other characters in your party as well as NPCs played by the GM. Try to stay in-character as much as possible, and only make decisions based on the information your character has as well as their personality, which may be quite different from your own!

Your character might have higher or lower abilities in some areas than you, the player, do. For instance, if your character has low Intelligence, they may not be able to figure out the solution to a puzzle even if you, the player, have already solved it. Conversely, if your character is extremely intelligent, you may use skill checks to determine the solutions to problems even if you as a player can't seem to figure it out. This is known as roleplaying up or roleplaying down.

Character Sheet

Your character sheet is a document that keeps track of all your character's stats and abilities. Depending on the medium for your game, your character sheet may be a paper printout that you write on, or a digital document such as a PDF or web-based tracker.

You'll need your character sheet for every game session, and the values on it will constantly be changing. So make sure you keep it in a safe place, keep a backup copy, and do not write on it in ink!
